Are you up for another edition of my Tom Top Ten? This is the third in a series of mini (just 10 pics each) picspams in celebration of Tom Welling, highlighting the wonderful performances he gives us, episode after episode. I call this one Happy. Get ready to smile!
Tom Welling has the most gorgeous, infectious smile I've ever seen! I defy anyone to look at these happy Clark moments without smiling right back at our beautiful boy!
1) 1.09 - Rogue. The morning after the bus accident outside the museum, Clark is worried about an article in the paper about the incident, especially after his father wonders if someone might have seen him. But when Jonathan and Martha tell him they're proud of him, his smiles lights up the whole barn! Tom makes us feel the joy that fills us all when we please our parents.
2) 1.12 - Leech. Clark has lost his powers in a freak lightning accident. At first he is dismayed, but then he realizes a whole new world has opened up to him. As he plays a pick-up basketball game in the school gym, he can't stop smiling. Tom shows us the carefree abandon of a Clark who no longer has to control his every action so he won't hurt the humans who surround him. Whee!
3) 1.15 - Nicodemus. Lana has been infected by the Nicodemus flower, and is definitely not herself, but Clark doesn't know that. When she takes him to the school swimming pool, strips down to her underwear, and invites him to join her in the water, he can't believe his eyes. Tom perfectly communicates the giddy excitement of a virginal teenage boy whose every fantasy has just come true!
2.03 - Duplicity. Clark reveals his secret to his best friend, and Pete reacts badly, feeling betrayed that Clark has hidden it from him for so long. After a run-in with Dr. Steven Hamilton helps him understand Clark's need for secrecy, though, he is honored to be taken into Clark's confidence. When the boys play basketball for the first time with no secrets between them, Clark's exuberance makes us all smile. Tom shows us how much it means to Clark to finally share everything with Pete.
3.02 - Phoenix. Clark thinks Lex is dead, and when he shows up at the farm, Clark cannot contain his relief at seeing his friend alive again. Tom makes us understand that no matter what Jonathan or anyone else may think of Lex, Clark loves his friend unconditionally, and would be lost without him.
3.14 - Obsession. Clark has finally met a girl with whom he can share his secret, and she likes him! As they flirt in the hallway at school, Clark positively radiates happiness. Tom shows us that Clark has the same hopes and desires that every teenage boy holds dear.
4.03 - Facade. Clark enjoys a carefree, fun afternoon as Smallville High's newest football hero, playing in the dunk tank at a spirit rally. Have you ever seen a happier face? Tom is joy personified in this moment!
4.04 - Devoted. Clark has just made the winning play in the big game, and celebrates with his teammates. Tom shows us how important it is to Clark to have a normal life, and to be included by his peers, rather than to live his life in isolation, destined always to be different.
4.14 - Krypto. It's love at first sight for Clark when Lois brings a dog home one night. In the end, Clark and Shelby save each other, and nothing will prevent them from being together. Tom reminds us that there's nothing else like the love between a boy and his dog. And he might not have been acting all that much in this one! :)
6.02 - Sneeze. Clark uses his newest ability to blow away the clouds that threaten to ruin his day at the lake with Chloe, surveying the resulting sunny skies with happy satisfaction. Tom gives us a rare glimpse of Clark having fun with his powers.
