Smallville: 10x09 guest star talks to MovieWeb
Alan Ritchson is making the rounds with the media to promote Patriot, and MovieWeb posted their interview today. Of course, my favorite quote was what he had to say about Tom Welling.

When we last saw Arthur at the beginning of season 8, he severed his ties with the rest of the Justice League because their identities had become compromised. Will this episode explain where Arthur has been since then? And what he has been doing? Also, how does he feel about Oliver going public with his identity, and the aftermath that it has caused?

Alan Ritchson:
Again, we are going to touch on that. But there isn't going to be a huge backstory on any of his stuff. With Mera or where he has been. We are going to reference that. We will explain a little bit about what has been going on. Again, it's more present to the story. We pick up and go. Its like, "Aquaman is here. Lets just do this!" You will see a little bit of that. AC has always been an island. He is a very fiery individually. Very passionate. He is going to do whatever it takes to back his passions, regardless of whom he gets around him. You will still see that today. By nature, he is a good person. He wants good to succeed. His ways of going about that are different than others. I don't think that he cares about what the Green Arrow is doing, or what Clark is doing, or anybody else. If they can help him, and he can help them by furthering his own agenda, I think he will do so. But he is such a unique character in his individuality. That is what you are going to see on screen.

Tom Welling directed this upcoming episode. Having worked with him for so many years as an actor, what was it like to see him on the other side?

Alan Ritchson:
It was fantastic. He has always been a very giving actor. That translates really well into his directing. He is a super nice guy. Very laid back. He is not pretentious at all. He is just a great guy. Coming from the acting world, he knows how to talk to an actor. He knows how to get what he wants. He knows how to get the best product, and the best performances, for the screen. This was a lot of fun.

I know we have at least two more interviews with Alan on the way, and it looks like Brian and Kelly will be talking to TV journalists as well. I'm not sure if I'm going to post links to anything B&K say. It depends on if they make my head want to explode or not. ;) What I really want to see is an interview with this week's director. *sigh*

Those questions were so hard to follow! I think Alan did really well answering them, and he was very gracious. Interviewing is a gift, or at least a skill, and some people obviously struggle with it. Loved the quote about Tom, though! :)

Odd interview but very nice quote about Tom from Alan.

I would have been overwhelmed by those questions. They were so long, and very specific. I guess at least we know that the interviewer is a fan of Aquaman, and Smallville. :)

Alan seems like a great guy. I imagine he had fun filming with Justin and Tom. I just wish we had some BTS pics to enjoy!

Thanks for this! :)

Alan´s statement about Tom sounds so familiar as if he had copied it from someone else. lol Seriously, it is great to see that everyone has essentially the same good things to say about Tom, so the picture of Tom, the Director, solidifies. Sad enough that we probably will never get a special about Tom´s work behind the scenes, although I would die to see it... :(

Now I only hope that Clark will be more than a supporting character to service the guest stars in Patriot...
