Smallville: Another cast member to return in S10!
Michael Ausiello has revealed that Laura Vandervoort will return to Smallville as Kara in S10! Yay! \o/

Smallville exclusive: Laura Vandervoort (a.k.a. Supergirl) returns!
by Michael Ausiello
Jul 13 2010 04:39 PM ET

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Supermangirl!

Current V extra-terrestrial Laura Vandervoort has inked a deal to reprise her role as Clark’s Kryptonian cuz Kara during Smallvlle‘s 10th and final season, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Vandervoort—who left the show at the end of season 7 only to return briefly the following fall to wrap up Supergirl’s story—will be back for one episode (tentatively scheduled to air in October).

Smallville and V are both produced by Warner Bros., so it’s safe to say the actress’ comeback was signed off on faster than a speeding bullet.

Vandervoort is the second major Smallville alum to head back for the final season. Last month it was announced that John Schneider would appear in one, possibly two episodes as Clark’s late dad.

Which return are you more excited about? And are you hoping Michael Rosenbaum will see this and go, “Eh, what the hell—I guess I’ll come back too.”? Sound off below!

This makes me happy.
Though I can't wait to hear how they'll explain why she's still on Earth and didn't leave with other Kryptonians. Knowing them, they'll just pretend it never happened. :)

But wasn't she off planet though when the other Krytonians were transported. Cause that could be why *shrugs*

I think this is a good thing. I do think the fact that she was totally ignored last season, even though she left the show to go look for Kandor, was a bit off-putting, so maybe her showing up will explain that a bit. And I know Laura really, really wanted to do it.

I still want Michael, Annette, Michael M, Kristin, Michael I, and maybe a few others that come to mind. I love the idea of the shows final season bringing back the familar faces too. It feels like a good way to bring the past, present and future all together.

I'm happy to have her back. I didn't want her to go the way of Gabe, never to be heard from again. And I love Tom and Laura together; the scenes between Clark and Kara always had a genuine feeling of family about them.

I want everyone you listed to come back, too! I'm really excited about S10 taking us full circle, bringing back the people who are important in Clark's life, and providing some closure to their storylines as we see Clark take the final steps toward fulfilling his destiny.

I just hope they're keeping an eye on the big picture, so that overall everyone fits seamlessly into Clark's season-long arc. I don't want this to turn into one example of stunt casting after another, with episodes that have little to do with each other, or Clark's journey.

Woohoo! *Does happy dance*

I, too, wonder how they'll explain away her presence on earth if she was on earth at the time. Since the Kandorians are gone I guess we'll have no Bottle City of Kandor storylines bleeding through.

But I'm happy she's coming back. Perhaps Clark will surprise her with the ability to fly and they can buzz about together ;). And it will be great to get her perspective on how much our man has grown in just two years and all the things that have changed. As long as she doesn't detract from Clark's story, I'm happy to have her back.

Yay, can't wait to hear who's next!

I don't think she was on Earth when the Book of Rao was activated, but I have no idea where she's been for so long. :) I don't want to see them do a Bottle City of Kandor storyline, but I do think that version of Kandor could exist, completely separate from the Kandorians who are clones.

I am happy to have her back, and I'm really looking forward to her reunion with Clark. First Jonathan, and now Kara, next we need confirmation that Martha will return as well!

\o/ Why so awesome, Smallville? I was hoping Kara would come back and now I'm two for 4.

I...honestly couldn't care less anymore whether Michael comes back or not. Since he's so adamant about not coming back, I'm like, "Holla." I guess it also helps that I'm one of the few that hasn't missed Lex since he left (and the one full season "Lex" wasn't around wound up being the best, IMO). Oh well, unpopular fannish opinion is unpopular.

I don't know how adamant Michael is these days. Maybe he's determined not to go back, or maybe the news of other actors returning will make him feel nostalgic. I would love to see him there for the series finale at least, but it won't ruin it for me if he isn't. I just want him to do whatever will make him happy.

I do miss seeing Michael on my TV screen, and I miss what he brought to Smallville, especially in his scenes with Tom, but I've never watched the show and felt like there was a big Lex-shaped hole in the story. The past two seasons have given me many of my favorite episodes of the series, and I love Cassidy's Tess, not as a replacement for Lex, but as a complex villain in her own right. I just hope we never see Fake!Lex again. *shudders*

Someone on my flist said I almost gave her a heart attack when I posted about JS coming back, because before she clicked on the cut, she was convinced it was news about MR. I thought I'd better add a disclaimer. :)

I'm really happy LV is coming back! I feel like the show didn't treat her as well as they could have when they released her at the end of S7, but she's been unfailingly positive about Smallville all the same. She's made no secret of the fact that she would like to return, and I'm glad the show made it happen.

Yay! Hope it's a great adventure ep. for Clark and Kara - if the final battle is with Darkseid, it would be nice to see her back for that too!

I adore LV, and she has great chemistry with Tom. I would love to see Clark and Kara join forces to battle the big bad!

I'm glad. I was never crazy about that flying off into the sunset wrap up they gave her; it would be nice to have a real resolution to her story, not to mention a nice reunion with Clark.

I actually thought they did a nice job with Kara's story, but that was when I thought S8 would be the last. She's been gone entirely too long now, and she's the only Kryptonian family Clark has. I look forward to seeing them together again!

hopefully she'll help him fly this season! I always likes her relationship with Clark, so I'm glad she's coming back.

I really like her relationship with Clark, too. Their scenes together are some of my favorites, especially in Traveler and Bloodline. I don't know if I want her to help him fly, though. I think that's something I'd rather Clark figured out on his own, but it all depends on how they handle it. I was so glad when they scrapped the scenes of Clark trying to fly and failing in Veritas. I didn't want to see that.

Yay to this! I'm a big fan of LV. Maybe this means more interviews with her praising our Tommy? :-) Thanks for sharing the info!

Brianne! *glomps you* I'm so happy to see you here!

I'm a big fan of LV, too. She has a wonderful sense of humor, and she shares great stories. And I think she and Tom laugh a lot on set, which is always a good thing. :)

I'm so happy that we're going to see Kara again, if only for the wonderful sense of family scenes that she shared with Clark. I always thought she made a great Supergirl. Laura has that same kind of otherworldly beauty that Tom does - making them both perfect for playing these iconic characters.

I am loving this trend of recognizing some of the past characters who were an important part of Clark's journey these past 10 years. I don't feel they need to rehash any of the returning characters storylines, rather I'd like to see them make their appearances in a way that shows support for Clark and where he's at in his life. If that makes sense. :)

Lex, of course, is a different story. I'd dearly love to have Michael back for a few episodes, but I'd settle for a foreboding cameo in the final episode if that's all Michael's willing to do.

I'm so happy that we're going to see Kara again, if only for the wonderful sense of family scenes that she shared with Clark.

That's what I enjoyed most about Kara. Laura and Tom gave their scenes together such warmth, and perfectly portrayed the kind of relationship we see between siblings or close cousins.

I don't feel they need to rehash any of the returning characters storylines, rather I'd like to see them make their appearances in a way that shows support for Clark and where he's at in his life.

I agree! I'd like to see them finish their stories on Smallville by re-connecting with Clark, and standing by his side, each in their own unique way, as he embraces his destiny.

Michael's return would mean more to me than any other actor who has left the show, but obviously I only want him to come back if that's what he wants as well. His absence won't ruin the finale for me, but his presence would make it a dream come true. How I wish Michael would make a surprise visit to SDCC and announce that Lex will be a part of Smallville in S10! I know it will never happen, but it's fun to fantasize. :)

It really is great news. And Laura will be at SDCC for the V panel on Saturday, she should totally stick around and stop by the Smallville panel on Sunday, too!
jwm_rocks From: jwm_rocks Date: July 14th, 2010 11:45 am (UTC) (Link)
This is great news! With her being on V I didn't hold out a lot of hope for her return.

October, huh? If my calculations are right that's when the big 200th episode will air. I wonder if she'll be in it.
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: July 14th, 2010 12:10 pm (UTC) (Link)
Me either! Laura herself was campaigning for it pretty hard, pointing out that both productions film in Vancouver. Alaina Huffman said the same thing about SGU, she wants to come back, too. :)

Kara returning for episode #200 makes a lot of sense, especially if that's the episode where Clark takes flight. I have no clue what they're planning, but it has to be something big!

And are you hoping Michael Rosenbaum will see this and go, “Eh, what the hell—I guess I’ll come back too.”?

ME, TOO!!!

I'll be okay if he doesn't, but in my heart of hearts I want it SO MUCH.

I'm really happy to see LV/Kara return. I enjoyed the family element brought by her and Clark, especially in Bloodline. Kara taking off to find Kandor was a nice excuse in Season 8, but too much time has passed and I'm curious to see if they will further explain her time gone. After two years Clark is in a completely different placed and I'm eager to see the difference in their relationship.
