If they don't do new promos for S10, that would be a crime. I'm a little afraid they're just going to finally release the ones they've been holding back from the S8 shoot. :( Especially if they don't add any significant new series regulars.

That's gonna look SO PRETTY with my other DVDs.

Hmmm....

::laugh:: I have mixed feelings on this DVD cover but I think my gut reaction is that I like it for the most part.

I love that Clark Kent is front and center as the star of the show. The darkness of the cover does make sense since this season began as a dark and difficult year for Clark. It ended gloriously with his sacrifice in "Salvation" but I completely understand why the marketing of this season on DVD would be to embrace the darkness.

I sort of love and hate that the images look like cartoons. On the one hand, it sort of reminds me of a comic book come to life where the images are drawn by hand. On the other hand....it looks like someone drew the images with crayons. LOL

I guess wish that they had done a proper photoshoot this Season with Clark in the suit so that they didn't have to photostop the crap out of it.

All that being said, three cheers for Clark being front and center and the star of his own show.

Re: Hmmm....

Oh, I love everything about the artwork. :) And I think the cover does a good job of capturing the focus and feel of the season. But mostly, like you, I'm just happy to see Clark where he belongs: featured on the cover as the star of the show and its most important character.

I agree that they should have done a S9 promo shoot with Clark in the suit. I know we had some episode stills that featured solo shots of Clark as the Blur, but that's not the same thing.

Ooh, that very well may be my favorite cover yet. Simple, dramatic, heroic, and beautiful.

I think it may become my favorite as well. The only one that holds a candle to it is S1, IMO. Doesn't he just embody Supes? I wonder if Tom posed for the artwork, or if the artist just worked from screen caps and existing promo pics. It's beautiful work, I think, especially compared to some other stuff we've seen, like the S7 cover, for example.

Though I love the shot they've chosen to promote S10 I still don't get why they won't use that gorgeous S8 shoot?

Makes no sense they seem to be stuck on the S4/S6 shoots
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: May 25th, 2010 10:03 am (UTC) (Link)
The only thing I can think of is that they wanted an image that looked like the Blur, and some of those S6 images are perfect for that. I was hoping that we had seen the last of the black costume with the end of this season, but I guess we'll see.

I want all new promo pics for S10, but they probably won't want to spring for them in the final season.

I like it!!!

Me, too! :) I love that it's a full-length image, we've never had that before.

Wow, I think it's stunning! Thanks!

I love how noble he looks. That's my hero. *sigh*

FINALLY a great DVD since S1. It's ALL about Clark! Beautiful cover and he looks so friggin sexy!

I couldn't agree more, Deb. I LOVE it! It really seems like the show is focusing on Clark again. The promotional materials for the TCA's and the Upfronts were images of Clark alone, Tom was the only cast member invited to New York, and now this. I think that's as it should be. I just hope the writers got the memo! :)

Obviously I agree! :) Now if only it were raining as well...

Oh, that's beautiful. And fitting. I'm a little surprised Lois isn't on it, but considering she was on last season's cover, I think this is good.

Can you imagine what next season's will look like? :D
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: May 25th, 2010 10:45 am (UTC) (Link)
It's beyond gorgeous, and entirely appropriate. Well done, show!

I think the S10 cover should be Clark doing the classic shirt rip!

Pretty close to what I expected though I imagined Clark standing out on a gargoyle looking down over his city instead of off into the distance.

What I think would have been a nice little touch? Clark clutching the Book of Rao.

And the watchtower there in the background so in a way Chloe finally made the cover!

What's that second building supposed to be? It kind of looks like the Daily Planet without the globe.
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: May 26th, 2010 11:07 pm (UTC) (Link)
I never guessed the cover would be Clark alone! That was a happy surprise. The Book of Rao would have been a cool touch, but I like just Clark with his hands in fists, too. That has been Tom's stance of choice for years now.

That building does look a lot like the DP. Here's a side-by-side comparison. I guess they couldn't include the DP because physically it's not supposed to be next to the Watchtower?

This is a glorious cover! I was kind of expecting a crowded cover, pretty much like the season was, but THIS is beyond my expectations and totally fitting!
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: May 26th, 2010 11:11 pm (UTC) (Link)
Yes, glorious! That is exactly the word I used when I first saw it. :) I'm so excited to see Clark featured this way, and in such a heroic pose.
duskwillow From: duskwillow Date: May 25th, 2010 02:53 pm (UTC) (Link)
That's a really cool cover!
Though, they messed with Tom's head in Photoshop a bit too much. Or that's an extremely weird angle.
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: May 26th, 2010 11:18 pm (UTC) (Link)
It looks good to me, but I don't have much of an eye for that sort of thing. :) I'm just thrilled to see Clark front and center! I am curious to know if the artwork was based on an actual photo, perhaps one taken during the filming of Salvation. If so, I would love to see it someday.
