Thanks! It was a joy to write about an episode I enjoyed so much. Salvation and Commencement are my two favorite finales, too. Greg Beeman used to direct every finale; bringing him back to close out this season was pure genius.

I do wonder what happened with James Marshall, though, who stepped into Beeman's shoes when he left in S5. He directed the finales in seasons 5, 6, and 8, and Veritas in S7, which would have been the finale if the writers' strike hadn't been resolved in time to resume production. He has directed at least two episodes in every season until now, but S9 broke his streak. He hasn't directed since Doomsday.

I loved that final confrontation. It was so personal, and so emotional, and in the end Clark gave everything he had to give to protect his adopted planet. He saved the day, and good triumphed over evil. It was perfect. And it left me super pumped about S10! ;)

I'm bummed that Persuasion turned out to be Emil's last appearance for the season. I have no idea what AJ's other commitments are, but I hope Emil will be back in S10. I especially love his dynamic with Clark, and it would be great if he could pick up the sidekick slack if AM really is only going to be in a limited number of episodes.
