Yeah, that was sort of why I didn't have a huge critical problem with it. I've said several times that I think there was a writing error. But I thought her behavior in "Upgrade" where she cut him off really fast and didn't seem that invested emotonally was pretty telling.
It still seemed clear to me that cutting off the connection became devastating when it was Clark on the other end of the phone. Obviously we'll never know, but I'm not positive it would have been so devastating if it was Zod doing the breaking up. Plus, the way Lois said that she hadn't realized it meant that much to her until that moment. So, she clearly hadn't realized how important it was to her to help the Blur until it was Clark on the other side again. Her moment of revelation about how much working for the Blur meant to her and that it was "the most important" part of her life came AFTER the moment when Clark stood behind her and held her hand and after Clark tried to sever it. It didn't come BEFORE that. So I never really had a question about it for that reason.

But I totally get that this is just a difficult thing to deal with for some people. And that's cool.

Not to beat a dead horse here, or belabor my point over semantics, but I'm not having difficulty dealing with anything. I'm simply making the observation that the writers created a situation that leaves some part of Lois's feelings open to interpretation. While I understand their reasons for introducing the Fake!Blur storyline, I wish they hadn't.

I would never discount the emotional impact of the conversation Clark and Lois shared over the phone, on them or on me. It was a powerful scene, with one of Tom's strongest performances to date, and I treasure it. I really do think we agree a lot more than not about this episode, and I don't mean to argue, truly. I just wanted to clarify a couple of things.

It's not a problem. Honestly, I was typing quickly and I probably just used the wrong words. I never meant to imply that you were having difficulty dealing with it. Wrong word choice. I just meant that I understood that not everyone was seeing it the same way that I was and some people had more issues with what was left open to interpretation than others. I didn't have a huge problem with the Fake!Blur storyline. When I think about it...I might have even liked it. But I completely understand why others wish it hadn't been introduced. That's all I Was trying to say.

Sorry for the confusion. That's what I get for typing quickly and not reading back over what I wrote!

MJ :)

Oh, no worries! It's so hard to discern nuance over the internet, and individual words mean different things to different people. I'm sorry I took what you said so personally. :)
