I actually don't think Clark's "Am I enough?" was meant to be that meta. He just wanted to know if "plain, regular, non-heroic" Clark was enough for Lois when her hero shut her out. It tied into The Blur asking Lois if there was something else important in her life after Lois said that helping The Blur was the most important thing. It's irrational because Clark himself said in Crossfire that "as much as I care for Lois, there's nothing more important than finding the Kandorians (re: his Blur activities/helping the world)", but love is sometimes irrational and at the time he was feeling that Lois' feelings for the Blur might have ourweighed her love for Clark the person. It was the classic "jealous of himself" line. It might not have been the right thing to ask, but that's how I took it.

I actually wondered if Clark was worried about the same thing I was: were any of Lois's feelings inspired by Zod, rather than him? Clark severed the relationship between Lois and the Blur, but which Blur's absence is she mourning most? It's an impossible question, because for Lois there is only one, but I could see where Clark might let irrational insecurity or jealousy creep in.

But yeah, that whole concept of Clark being jealous of himself, and making Lois choose one part of himself over another, makes my head want to explode. Clark has always taken Lois's feelings for the Blur, whatever they are, in stride, and glowed under the warmth of the compliment they are. That's what has made the Tof2 bearable for me on Smallville, up until now.
