I'm never going to be okay with the show putting a greater emphasis on any character over Clark, but I could at least understand them giving Chloe time in the spotlight a la Lana's S8 arc if I thought this were her big send-off. But I have every expectation that she will be back in S10. And I shudder to think how she will be used to undermine Clark then.

Oh, I have no problem with Chloe as a sidekick/audience pov as long as Clark gets to articulate his side of things as well. I have no problem with any character being used as a mirror in such a way. The problem I have is when the secondary characters (anyone not Clark or Lex, basically) being given a position that places them above the main characters on a regular basis.

Occasional episodes that spotlight other cast members are one thing. Privileging their view above the leads most the time is something else. And that's where Chloe does not work for me.

That goes for Oliver and the others as well.

Erm, apparently I'm more upset than I thought. *hangs head*

I agree with you completely. I loved Chloe for a long time, and I could easily love her again, but not the way she is now. And I enjoy episodes that give other actors and characters a chance to shine, just not at Clark's expense. TPTB have lost sight of who Clark is, and who he will become, if they ever really understood that in the first place.
