Smallville: Brian Peterson shares another gem about Chloe
Consequences for Chloe in Sacrifice? Somehow I doubt it. And you know what else, Brian? What would make the last few episodes fun for me would be a lot of CLARK.

Producers have claimed Tess and Chloe are a lot alike on Smallville. What do they mean, and why are they having them interact more?
"That's dead-on," show runner Brian Peterson tells us. "They're a lot alike and yet very different. Tess always has to be hooked to a hero, always supporting some kind of hero, whether they end up being good or bad. But Chloe has moved into becoming a hero in her own right. We haven't quite developed Tess's character as much as we're going to." Still, there's more to come. "People will have a lot of fun in these last few episodes because there's a lot of Tess and Chloe."

Oh, for Gods sake. What is this asshole even talking about?

There is so much nonsense in that statement, I don't even know where to begin.

Tess and Chloe are a lot alike, but very different. Well, Mr Peterson, thats called a contradiction you mental midget.

Tess has to support a hero, whether they end up good or bad? Well, if they're bad, than they aren't a hero, are they?

Chloe is a hero in her own right...but she's going to face consequences? My ASS!

And of course, more Tess and Chloe is precisely what the end of this season needs. Clark? Fuck him!

I couldn't read the rest because the link is broken.

I know! It doesn't make any sense. A hero who turns out to be bad? Maybe he thinks that's what Clark is, since Chloe, the real hero of the story, has had to fix his mistakes all season. [/sarcasm]

I think it's official: I'm bitter.

The quote isn't from a Smallville interview, but there are other tidbits about the show. I think the link is fixed, but if it gives you problems, try this one:

Yep, lots of Chloe, that's gonna be fun! Get the party hats! Whoo-hoo!
That guy is too much. I think Clark fans need to troll online magazines 24/7 so we can get gems like that about Clark.
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: April 20th, 2010 01:48 am (UTC) (Link)
Obviously the problem is that Clark fans aren't obnoxious enough.

It's so wrong that Smallville is run by two people who seem to have no love or respect for the character whose journey the entire show is supposed to be about. Does no one on this show speak up for Clark?

*takes in a deep breath* I'm not even going to comment on all the foolishness being spouted in that blurb. It won't be good for my blood pressure.
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: April 20th, 2010 01:58 am (UTC) (Link)
I shouldn't be surprised by any of this, but I wasn't prepared for the depth of my reaction. I have to keep telling myself it's just a TV show.
frelling_tralk From: frelling_tralk Date: April 20th, 2010 01:46 am (UTC) (Link)
Is there anything to suggest that there won't be a lot of Clark though? He's only talking about Chloe because the question was about her. "A lot of Chloe" most likely = around 15 minutes of an episode I'm guessing

And the Chloe/Tess comparison isn't necessarily pointing towards Chloe being whitewashed considering how morally grey and ruthless Tess can be
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: April 20th, 2010 01:54 am (UTC) (Link)
Pardon me for being cynical, but I think I've read enough of BP's interviews to know what to expect from these statements. I'll be the first to admit it if it turns out I'm wrong.

Chloe's already been whitewashed. I fully expect the remaining episodes to deify her.
tasabian From: tasabian Date: April 20th, 2010 01:46 am (UTC) (Link)
I seriously think the producers try to be all things to everyone, any line of promotion that will get people to watch. whether it bears any actual relation to the show or not.

Is there new SV & SPN this week? I'm confuzzled!
frelling_tralk From: frelling_tralk Date: April 20th, 2010 01:53 am (UTC) (Link)
Yep IA! If the question was about any other character like say Lois or Ollie, I'd expect similar talk of look out for a lot of them towards the finale/great arcs coming up for them. It's just their way of promoting the show

I feel like smashing my head into a wall. Or better yet, smashing
his
head into the wall.

I do agree that Tess and Chloe are different in one way only, but that's that Tess actually owns up to her actions and doesn't try to justify what she does, she knows she ain't a white hat.

*le sigh*
At this point I do not want to see Lex back in season 10. Because the way they're writing villains on this show, the news would come out that he tried to end the Visitor/Blur for sake of all humankind, the public would turn against Clark and they'd probably linch him with kryptonite, and we'd end up with torn cape image we never got in Doomsday. That's how much I trust them at this point.
*pissed off*
la_belle_isa From: la_belle_isa Date: April 20th, 2010 02:05 am (UTC) (Link)
"they'd probably linch him with kryptonite" Don't give them the idea!! They'll think it's fun and great drama!! In fact, since they ripped Clark in half last season, I'm surprised they haven't thought of that one yet.
From: kissme_myfool Date: April 20th, 2010 02:26 am (UTC) (Link)
Didn't read, guy is full of crap. I fully expect the season to continue Lois heavy as its been till now. In my view Clark needs a lot of work to be the superman. Which means more of his stories revolving around him and not more him revolving around others stories...if that make sense.

I've not been up to date on ST totals but if they are anything like they were in the beginning, less Lois would do a lot of good. If people are complaining of too much Chloe, what are they saying about Lois?

I really should just stop reading what he says. I'd be better off.

umm okay??? why must they make her into tess? no wonder why I am hating her...she's straying farther and farther away from herself...stupid stupid writers
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: April 20th, 2010 04:04 am (UTC) (Link)
Stupid writers is right. But then, that's always been the problem on Smallville, hasn't it? :P

I do think Brian and Kelly both pander to whatever audience they think is listening. I need to wait and watch the episodes for myself, and then apply my rage as appropriate AFTER I see what actually happens. :D
sunflowercyn10 From: sunflowercyn10 Date: April 20th, 2010 04:18 am (UTC) (Link)
*sigh* even though I've only had 4 hours of sleep and should really catch some Zzzz's right now I had to comment when I saw your post. Tess and Chloe are alike but Chloe is becoming her own hero and Tess is basically just always hitching her boat to the wrong team but deep down wants to save the world too. Wow Clark you are so lucky having folks in your life like that!

I completely agree with you...after watching the last couple of episodes and the promise of Chloe suffering consequences for her actions all year in Sacrifice...I am choosing to think it not going to happen to ease my disappointment by the time with hit the finale.

I just wish that by the end that Clark's moral compass is finally scene as the one that has been right all along. Thanks for the link.

I just wish that by the end that Clark's moral compass is finally scene as the one that has been right all along.

Truthfully, this is all I need to make me happy. I can let go of all the bad behavior from Chloe and Oliver, and their inexcusable failure to apologize to Clark, if the writers just make it clear that Clark was and is right. In the early seasons we had episode after episode where Clark's instincts about something would be spot on, but no one would listen to him. The episode would be all about him uncovering the truth, saving the day, and being completely vindicated in the end. Hug, Crush, Heat, Dichotic, and Magnetic all spring instantly to mind. Why is it so hard for these writers to let Clark be the hero? And if they want to let the other characters shine, that's great. Just don't diminish Clark in the process!

"But Chloe has moved into becoming a hero in her own right"

Or, translated: "If I say this enough times, that will make it true."

*eyeroll*

I really wish he would stop talking now. Really.
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: April 20th, 2010 07:26 am (UTC) (Link)
Hero? Once again I can only conclude that he has a different dictionary from the rest of us, because I do not think that word means what he thinks it means.

How I wish Tom would give us his take on what the rest of the season holds in store. I swear every time Brian or Kelly gives an interview, they either manage to say nothing at all, or they say something that makes my head explode.

I should just stop reading interviews with them, but I know I won't. :P
carolandtom From: carolandtom Date: April 20th, 2010 01:39 pm (UTC) (Link)
Can anyone be dumber than this *insert your favorite insults here*?

The way the ratings have been going down, more interviews from this brainless guy and the next few episodes will have 500.000 viewers, if they are lucky.

I hope he gets fired!!!
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: April 21st, 2010 02:13 am (UTC) (Link)
I really do think the key to bringing viewers back to the show is to give them a hero they can believe in, and root for. Make the show about Clark, from his POV, and let him be the man he is meant to be. What other show out there holds the hero back?
starry_dawn From: starry_dawn Date: April 20th, 2010 03:48 pm (UTC) (Link)
Ha! I read that and thought, "Way to dig the hole deeper, Brian. Good job!"

We're all screwed, I tell you.

(Where's my "facepalm" icon when I need one? Oh, well. A bitchface will have to do.)
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: April 21st, 2010 02:17 am (UTC) (Link)
Well, I guess there's one small segment of fandom who will be glad to hear this news. :P

I swear, I've written S9 off at this point, so anything I get will feel like a gift. Once again I find my hopes pinned to the NEXT season, because the current one has lost me completely.
