Smallville: Synopsis for 9x20 - I worship at the television altar — LiveJournal
Smallville: Synopsis for 9x20

“SMALLVILLE” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)
“Sacrifice” (CONTENT RATING TBD sptv050769) (HDTV)

CHLOE AND TESS ARE TRAPPED INSIDE WATCHTOWER — Tess (Cassidy Freeman) breaks into Watchtower, triggering an elaborate security system that Chloe (Allison Mack) installed, ultimately trapping the two women inside. Chloe realizes that The Kandorians are downloading information about from the Watchtower server, which prompts her to make a drastic move. Oliver (Justin Hartley) confronts Zod (Callum Blue) and winds up clinging to life with a “Z” scorched into his chest. Clark (Tom Welling) realizes Zod has given his soldiers super powers.... Kevin Fair directed the episode with story by Justin Hartley and Walter Wong and teleplay by Bryan Q Miller (##3X5270).

Okay, it was horrible enough when they carved up Lex's beautiful chest in Quest, but at least Michael Rosenbaum was leaving the show, so we weren't going to get to see Sexy Lexy shirtless anymore anyway. But now they're going to permanently scar Ollie's perfect pecs?! Say it ain't so, Smallville! Maybe they can get some of that WB ointment Jared Padalecki uses on Supernatural.

You guys don't think they're going to kill off Ollie, do you? I can just imagine that conversation: "Hey, Justin! I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is you get to write an episode! The bad news is your character dies in it." But I don't think JH is going anywhere, and killing off Chloe's love interest two years in a row would really be overkill in the redux department.

I'm already seeing spec that Chloe's healing power will come back to save Ollie. At least that would leave him scar-free. :) Yes, my priorities are exactly that shallow.

As for the rest of the spoilers? NEEDS MOAR CLARK. Stupid show.

I'm giong to start tweeting that to the SV writers. Unfortunately, they've probably wrapped for the season.

I'm starting to feel like I did last season, that I just have to brace myself for what's to come and get through it, and then hope things will be better in S10. I know that's depressingly cynical, but between the spoilers and the interviews, I'm worried.

And I know they're trying to create suspense so people will talk about the show and tune in, but I wish they would just tell us who is leaving and who is staying, so I could accept it and move on.

I am getting so sick of the "Everyone but Clark" show.

He's just an afterthought in this synopsis. I feel like they wrote the whole thing, and then said, "hey, wait, we didn't say anything about Clark, what can we add?"

Clark who?? He seems to be more of an afterthought *eye roll*

Exactly. I really don't get it. I mean, I'm probably in the minority on my flist in that I actually like Oliver, but he's not the star of the show. I want to hope that this description is misleading, that the episode is really about Clark coming in to save the day, but Kelly Souders has already told me that it's all about Chloe and Tess.

Did they leave a word out of that synopsis? Who/What are the Kandorians downloading information about from Watchtower?

And I add my vote to the NEEDS MOAR CLARK list. Reading the description ep I was afraid his name wouldn't even be in it until they slipped it in there at the end.

Matt Mitovich said on Twitter that they left an extra word in, which I'm assuming is the "about." I didn't feel comfortable editing the official synopsis, though, so I copied it verbatim.

Much like in Kelly's interview yesterday, Clark gets a cursory mention. Not only are they not excited to tell his story, he seems to be a footnote to the action.

Oh look, another ep thats all about Chloe and Oliver and Tess, and probably has less then 10m of screentime for Clark, and it going to show Clark being ALL WRONG, while Chloe and Oliver are the BIG HEROES!

Thanks for that Justin, and thanks for the SV writers.

Does anyone connected to this show champion Clark? Ever?

Having Justin write an episode that focuses on his own character seems incredibly self-indulgent, but maybe I'm being naive. I guess any actor would jump at the chance to write their own story, to say the lines they've always dreamed of saying. But we've had too many Ollie-centric episodes already. How disappointingly predictable it all is.

Yeah, I never really thought they would get rid of Oliver. :) I don't want Tess to die, but it's beginning to look like they might go there. And I'm afraid it is time for Chloe to leave. I feel pretty sure that she will, but I'm still worried about what kind of exit they'll give her. I'm afraid it will glorify Chloe, ignore all the bad things she's done this season, and diminish Clark.

Are you kidding me? Scars are SEXY. (Only on fictional characters, of course.) Plus, I like him better with clothes (yeah, I know, I should get myself checked out), so it doesn't really bother me.

Yay for Justin writing an episode! I'm excited to see his take on the show. :)

Scars are sexy? You like him better with clothes?! That's just crazy talk! :D

I'd be all for Oliver keeping his clothes on if Clark would pick up the slack in the shirtlessness department. ;)

I am curious to see the Smallville that Justin will give us. The only other thing I've ever seen that he's written is Brawn and Glamour, which is very comedic, but this episode sounds pretty dark and heavy. Did Justin incorporate his trademark humor? And with Bryan Q. Miller on board, I'm hopeful that Clark will be portrayed well. I'm just worried about how much he'll actually be in the episode.

*Blinks* Did you just skip from TW to JH?

It sure seems the Smallville writers have a thing with carving, don't they?

LOL! My obsession with Tom is still intact, but I do have a deep appreciation for Justin's perfectly chiseled chest. And everything else he brings to the show, of course. :)

It upsets me to even think about Quest. *shudders* But I guess this time it will be more about heat vision, kind of the same way Alia burned the symbol for Zod into that guy's back in Pandora. I'm not looking forward to it.

You know how, at the beginning of the season, some were having a problem with Lois having so much screen time? Well I was one of those who was never bothered by it simply because when Clark is playing off Lois he always tends to have a lot to do, and always looks smart and heroic. And those two things are why Rabid and Idol are my favorite eps of the season.

So after last nights episode, reading this OD just made me groan. Because Lois isn't in it, meaning another episode with Clark standing around getting talked to while Chloe, Oliver and Tess get the big character focus - and Clark will most likely be apologizing for everything again.

Come on SV writers, learn a different tune already. *eyeroll*

Given that filming ended yesterday, it's too late for any of this to change now. My only hope now is that out of Chloe, Oliver and Tess we'll only be left with one of those three next season. (And I tend to think it will be Oliver. After the events of Checkmate, Tess' name is about to be written down in a Death Note and Chloe will just leave for some reason since AMs contract is up and there's still been neither a word or rumor that it's been renewed.)

Rabid is still my favorite episode of the season, for a lot of reasons. Kandor is another one I love, so I know they can write Clark well, with or without Lois. I realize that the OD's can be misleading, but as you say, Checkmate doesn't exactly inspire confidence when it comes to how these writers will handle Clark.

I think it's time for Chloe to go, but I want both Oliver and Tess to stay. I have to agree, though, that things are looking pretty grim for Tess right now.

I seem to recall that, a long time ago, there was a TV show that went by the name of Smallville and was about a guy named Clark Kent. I wonder whatever happened to it. umm...

Moving on.

I hear you, Carol. *sigh* I feel like they're conditioning us to be thankful for crumbs.

Tom is still wonderful every moment he's onscreen. THAT's what I'm thankful for, if anything.

NOOOOOOOO!!! Not Ollie's chest!!! (You don't think this is Justin's attempt to *gasp* keep his shirt on for the rest of the series, do you? *wibble*)

But I'm glad Justin's getting a chance to shine behind the scenes. And is it possible that Hellcats is behind the Need-for-MOAR-Tom?
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: April 13th, 2010 02:57 am (UTC) (Link)
I don't care if they have to resort to time travel, Clark healing him with his blood, or just a massive retcon, they cannot scar the pretty!

And is it possible that Hellcats is behind the Need-for-MOAR-Tom?

I sure hope not. That wouldn't bode well for Smallville if Hellcats goes to series. :(
