This show has really taken me by surprise. I was prepared to hate it for taking Smallville's Thursday night slot, and I was even holding a grudge against Ian Somerhalder for a snide remark I heard he made about Tom when he was on the show in S3. But I tuned into the premiere out of curiosity and liked it a lot! It keeps getting better, and Ian is absolutely the best thing about it. I love him!

I follow the show's music supervisor, Chris Mollere, on Twitter (he's @cmollere), and he tweets a list of all the songs they used for each episode when it airs. I go straight to iTunes every week after I watch. :) You can also visit THIS web site to find the lists for each episode. Some of my favorite songs so far:

Save the Lies, by Gabriella Cilmi
Boom, by Anjulie
Closer to Love, by Mat Kearney
Here We Go, by Mat Kearney
Never Say Never, by The Fray
Running Up That Hill, by Placebo
I Get Around, by Dragonette
Gravity, by Sara Barielles
Heavy Cross, by Gossip
Don't Trust Me, by 3OH!3
Starstrukk, by 3OH!3
All We Are, by Matt Nathanson
Temptation, by Moby
Down, by Jason Walker
Wait It Out, by Imogene Heap

I'm actually loving Smallville on Friday nights. For me, it's the perfect way to celebrate the end of my arduous work week, and to kick off my weekend of fun. :) But it still offends me that the CW treated a show that has been so good to them that way. And I do miss having all my boys together. There was something about knowing that both Smallville and Supernatural film in Vancouver, and that Tom is friends with Jensen and Jared, that made watching the shows together feel so right. And since I started watching both shows at the same time, that's how it has ALWAYS been for me.

I have no idea if Ian really said what was attributed to him, but I'm more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I've read lots of interviews with him about TVD, and he seems humble about his own contribution to the show, thankful to have the role, and passionate about doing it justice. He constantly praises the writers, the directors, and his co-stars. And then brings these absolutely amazing performances to every episode! He was SO GOOD last night! AGAIN!

I love discovering new music from the shows I watch. Sometimes the music can really make an otherwise ordinary moment between characters an exceptionally memorable one.

I couldn't agree more! Other times a song will become a favorite because of the emotional resonance a special moment brings to it, and the way it can make that moment replay in my head whenever I hear it.

TVD music continues to be awesome!
