I worship at the television altar
OMFG Tom Welling gave an interview!!
Thanks to cloiser_trish for the heads up! It's so wonderful to read his thoughts about the show, and his insights into Clark! I would have posted this sooner, but I was passed out from the shock. Oh, and in other news? Hell freezes over and pigs fly!

I'm very VERY happy to hear from Tom! No need for me to elaborate any further so I'll just say that I subscribe all the great things everyone has said about him and about this interview in this entry.

Oh, Carol, isn't it wonderful to see him break his silence? And of course he's every bit as intelligent and articulate as he's always been. I so hope we can look forward to more interviews with him in the future!

What I love about Tom's appearance at Comic-Con, and now this interview, is how clearly they demonstrate that this show IS Tom Welling. No other person connected with Smallville, on or off the screen, could ever generate the excitement and buzz about the show Tom has by taking part in this event. I was so gratified to see him gently point out the leadership role he has been playing on the show for years now, and I'm so thrilled that he is finally receiving even a portion of the recognition he has been due. I hope he's having the time of his life!

It really is that simple, isn't it? I can put up with a lot of craziness to see Tom on my TV screen every week. ;)

Hey I JUST saw this! The first Tom Welling interview in three years!!! As least he finally got around to doing one.

"Sounds like he’s going to be torturing himself.

Again, another year of torture for Clark."

Oh Tom! Truer words have never been spoken of Smallville.

Great interview too, he's very well-spoken. See Tom, was that so torturous? I'm poking fun out of love of course but seriously, I would personally want to give interviews once or twice a year so that I can talk about my work you know? If you work hard on something and are proud of it then why not speak about it briefly? He's been able to pick and choose who he would like to speak to for years now. Anyhow, thank you Tom for the interview!

The Zod storyline sounds bizarre. Like it's a younger version of the character before he was evil on Krypton? That doesn't make much sense or maybe I simply don't understand it.

I wouldn't let people bother you about the money thing. I don't think Tom cares and hopefully he's doing it for the right reasons. I really don't think there needs to be another season if they didn't waste so much time but whatever. I love seeing Tom and Erica on my television screen. Such beautiful people! I hope you are doing well!

Wow, it only took me three weeks to reply to your comment! I'm so sorry, my only excuse is that my work has completely consumed my life. Anyway, hi! :)

It was a wonderful interview, and I'm so grateful to Tom for granting it. He's given us such a wealth of his presence this season, just by appearing at Comic-Con, I really can't bring myself to demand or expect more. But of course I'll always hope that he will venture out again, and share his thoughts and insights another time.

Well, we're two episodes into the season now, and I can't really make heads or tails of the Zod storyline. I suppose they're being purposely mysterious, but I have so many unanswered questions! I guess it will all become clear in time.

I don't think for a moment that Tom signed a new contract for the money alone, but I'm sure his reps negotiated for the best deal possible, and I'm sure that was important to him. I would expect no less from someone of Tom's obvious intelligence and business savvy. He certainly cares enough about this character to continue to give us a performance that is both nuanced and complex, and that's good enough for me.

Whether we have one more season or two, all I care about is that they give us the ending we deserve. The thing is, they've already filmed almost half the season. So if Dawn doesn't decide Smallville's fate now (and I don't think there's any way she definitively would this early), it will already be too late. So for that reason alone, I wish we were going to have a S10. But given the ratings for the first two episodes, I don't think there's any way that's going to happen.

P.S: I've been attending the Toronto Film Festival here in my hometown and got to see Colin Farrell. He's a cool guy and talks a lot. There was a Q and A after his film Triage, which was good. If you want to see the pictures, then just ask! I would love to share. I didn't get to meet him but he was giving interviews and was onstage briefly. I might make a post of it but my life is in chaos currently. I have no idea if you think he's attractive or slime...or maybe both? Ha!

I don't really have an opinion about Colin Farrell, to tell you the truth. I don't think I've ever seen much of anything he's been in. I do like his accent, though. :) That's cool that you got to see him in person, especially for a Q & A.
