I think it's the build up. Deaths you don't see coming work best for TV. In this case, if Dooms didn't "kill" Clark, it'd feel like "What's the point of bringing him on?"

So, yawn, another death that's gonna be fixed in the premiere like Lana exploding or Lex being poisoned or ...etc.

You'll laugh. All I saw was the cartoon movie Superman:Doomsday and that had him taken to the Fortress for regeneration cause his brainwaves were still active.

In the comics? He was gone for months and months and that's where Kon-El and Steel and others came in. I don't know how he revived. I guess we're going with a Fortress Sue McGuffin of some kind. After all, it's SV!

There's always a crystal that magically does something.

Well play a game with it. When I see the Doomsday costume. I like to think about how much like a Gremlin from that movie of the same name it reminds me of. Then I at least laugh with the predictability.

He's a gremlin who says "Chloooeee." I may enjoy Chloom, true, but on this show, you have to laugh at the cheese or you'll never make it.

...If Superboy appeared in the premier next season, I might start tuning in again.

I guess that's what they're counting on, speculation over the summer about exactly how they'll bring him back, and if he'll somehow be changed by the experience.

Supes was regenerated in the Fortress in the comics as well, but it was a long time before we knew that. There were four other possible Superman characters that emerged after the Doomsday fight, none of which, of course, turned out to be the real one.
