Michael Rosenbaum on the set of Breaking In

Michael Rosenbaum's new show, Breaking In, hosted a set visit for TV journalists today, during filming of an episode in which the security firm is hired to protect a copy of Goonies 2 that is being screened at Comic-Con.

Tweeted by @tbrick2, Tierney Bricker from Zap2it:

Breaking In needs more Michael Rosenbaum. I have a fever and the only prescription is more Rosenbaum.

Heading on over to the Breaking In set to talk to Christian Slater, Bret Harrison, Odette Yustman, Michael Rosenbaum and more.

Oh, Christian Slater. I will always love you because of The Heathers and you lived up to my high expectations.

Breaking In's version of Comic-Con is amaaaazing.

You can't get my hopes up like this, Breaking In!

My all-time favorite picture. It's me protesting in Sloth's honor! #goonies4eva

Breaking In's version of Comic-Con. I want to live here.

Odette Yustman liked my sparkly nail polish. She's cool like that.

Rosenbaum just entertained the set by singing some Michael McDonald. Respect.

Bret Harrison and I bonded over Idol. We're both rooting for Paul McDonald. #goodtaste

[Breaking In is] on FOX. It premieres April 6th. Very funny.

Um, Michael Rosenbaum is awesome and says penis a lot. Smallville fans will love him as Dutch on Breaking In.

Tierney also sat down to chat with Michael one-on-one. A few of my favorite quotes:

He describes [Dutch] as "complete douche on the outside, nice guy on the inside," who wears Uggs, bleaches his hair and wears two watches at the same time.

"The first fan reaction would be like, 'I like him better as Lex. He looks better bald. He shouldn't be on this show. He should be Lex forever,'" he teases affectionately. "that would probably be their first reaction. Hopefully some of them will go, 'Oh, he's actually kind of funny. This is good,' or maybe not. I think one thing they'll appreciate is that whatever character I do, I go balls out."

Obviously, we had to be greedy and ask Rosenbaum for even more scoop on the series finale of "Smallville," and while he wouldn't reveal too much -- like if he shot any scenes with anyone besides Tom Welling -- he did say you will be seeing more of Lex Luthor than you might have originally thought.

"We did four different things. Two nice scenes and then two other specialty things that I won't tell you about. I'm a part of the finale and I think it's important."

Read the full interview, including Michael's thoughts about what Smallville means to him, and which special tee he chose for his character to wear to Comic-Con, at Zap2it HERE.

Tweeted by @EricIGN, Eric Goldman from IGN:

Last call for questions for Michael Rosenbaum/@mrosenbaum711 on my Breaking In set visit. I hear he was on a show called Smallville? ;)

On Breaking In set. Under the weather Christian Slater elbow bumped instead of shaking hands. Sick Joshua Jackson did same on Fringe set once.

Breaking in is doing an episode set at Comic Con, which is why I just took a photo with Ecto-1!

Tweeted by @HitFixDaniel, Daniel Fienberg from HitFix:

On the Breaking In set. Odette Yustman *may* be in costume as a Sexy Popcorn Vendor.

Breaking In spoiler: Bret Harrison is wearing a mustache. Also, Odette Yustman is pretty.

Sadly, Odette Yustman is a Mets fan.

True Fact: Michael Rosenbaum does a reasonably good Michael McDonald impression.

And if you haven't seen them already, here are two promo pics of Michael as Dutch, courtesy of SpoilerTV. You can see a peek of his Man Uggs in the second one. :) Click for BIGGER.

I think that's awesome that they're doing a ComicCon episode & Michael will be in a Supes-shirt! It's a dream come true :)

Thanks for the tweets & the photos! *excited*

Doesn't this whole show, and especially this episode, sound like so much fun? I'm already counting the days until April 6.

I'm hopeful we'll see an interview from Eric Goldman as well. He's one of my all-time favorite TV journalists; he asks great questions and always puts his subjects at ease. At SDCC, Tom remembered him from the Upfronts, which impressed me, and then he got us that wonderful interview where Tom was goofing off with Cassidy, and seemed so happy and relaxed.

Wow this is great. Thank you so much for posting this. I actually don't know very much about his new show but frankly I saw a spoof on "Goonies 2" and that was pretty much all I needed to hear because that is freaking hilarious. haha.

I'm sure Michael is going to be very funny on the series. He is such a great comedic talent. I will absolutely check it out. I'm always looking for new comedies to make me laugh. As much as I love my dramas....sometimes you just need that great comedy show on in the background to unwind after a long day and laugh at stupid things.

I would really love to see Tom do some comedy at some point. Obviously, I think he would be great in something darker too and I know many critics have noted how well he seems to play those darker characters. But I just love Tom being funny. I think he's so naturally funny. I guess we'll see. Maybe he will guest star on Michael's show!! One can hope, right?

Everything I've seen about Breaking In, from the sides to the promos to interviews with the actors, has made me laugh. The plot reminds me of the movie Sneakers, and the show seems to be full of the geeky stuff I love. I'd watch it just for Michael in a heartbeat, but I'm also a fan of Christian Slater and Bret Harrison.

I couldn't live without my comedies! My favorites are TBBT, Community, and Parks and Recreation, but I watch a lot more. It's interesting, I do have friends who watch no comedies at all, ever. Me? I never watch reality shows, not one. I watch TV to escape! :)

Tom is so good at comedy, and beyond Clark's hilarious banter with Lois, he's had few opportunities to explore that side of his talent on Smallville. I'm desperate to see him do a romcom for the big screen, and I'd be happy to see him guest star on a few sitcoms as well. Plus those kinds of roles would help him break the Clark Kent mold.

Tom and Michael would be fabulously funny together. MR said he is still developing Saved By Zeroes, and I would LOVE to see Tom play a comical version of himself (a la evil Wil Wheaton on TBBT) in that.

Oh my gosh....no joke I was just watching that episode of TBBT with Will Wheaton while I was getting dressed this morning. I just really needed a laugh and we had Season 3 up in our bedroom so I threw it on. That episode is hilarious. "Your Meemaw died??" LOL

I keep hearing that I should be watching "Community." I could use a new comedy. I think I need to check that one out.

I don't know if you watch Modern Family but that show is also hilarious.

I woud kill to see Tom play a comical farce of himself. That would be pure gold. That is going on my wish list for him. I would also sort of love to see him spoof his hot appearance in the process. He's so humble in real life but it would be hilarious to see him play some kind of joke version of himself who is like a hot villian. hahaha.

He really is! The critics raved over his few seconds of screen time in the promo they showed at the TCAs, and they all loved him when they visited the set. And how could they not? :) I'm so excited that his brief cameo turned into a spot as a series regular (just because he's that awesome), and I can't wait to see him bring this character to life!

I may have to watch this show. A lot.

It really sounds good to me. I've been reading the sides, and they're too funny. And Michael on my TV screen, for at least seven episodes!

I finally saw previews for this show the other day and it does look funny. I still don't know if I like MR better with hair or not?
tariel22 From: tariel22 Date: March 17th, 2011 02:56 am (UTC) (Link)
You know, at first I actually thought he looked kind of weird with hair. :) But now I love his "natural" look, he's such a cutie (those promo pics are hot!). It's going to be a shock to see him bald again on Smallville.
