Smallville: New preview clip for 10x7
The CW has posted a new preview clip for Ambush, as well as the promo that played after Harvest last Friday. This episode looks like a good mix of intrigue and comedy to me! I love Michael Ironside, and he plays the military man perfectly. In fact, he reminds me a lot of my dad, who was a Captain in the Navy, and called every boy I ever dated "that clown." :)

"You live in your mother's house, and you work in a basement, is that correct?" hee!

I like how Clark is polite to the General for Lois's sake, but doesn't back down when the serious issue of the Vigilante Registration Act comes up. And Clark looks HOT. But Lucy kissing him? Really?

I know this might be an odd comment but I think this is the best preview clip that has been released this season because it left me wanting to know exactly what Clark was going to say the minute the clip cut off. I don't think he has any idea about how to respond to the General's comments about the RAO towers because we, the audience, know that Clark already knows that his methods of bringing the building down were flawed. He admitted it to Jonathan in "Lazarus."

Isn't Michael Ironside incredibly well cast? What a difference a great actor makes in a role like this. He plays very well off of Tom.

This clip cracked my shit up. When Clark says, "It's good to see you, sir" and the General just kind of grunts at him? That is funny.

Someone on another board had a screencap of the General's list of chores. It's hilarious. He wanted him to clean the stables, regravel the driveway, recaulk the shower, fix the weathervane etc etc. All very tedious chores.

I really liked the way Clark stood his ground. He was polite for Lois' sake. I'm sure he's going to kill himself to be polite for her sake. But he's not going to be a doormat and I like that.

I'm looking forward to this one.

By the way...is Lois cooking in the background? That can't be good. LOL

I love Michael Ironside, ever since I saw him play Tyler on V. He's just so perfect to play the general. I'm glad they're bringing him and Lucy back- it's nice that they're showing that Lois has an actual family that Clark is expected to become a part of. I can't wait for Friday- it's become my favorite TV night!

I think he's great in everything he does, and he's perfect as the General. I'm glad they're devoting an episode to Lois's family, too, although it looks like Lucy is going to be her usual troublesome self. I'm really interested to see how this all plays out.

I hope Michael Ironsides gets to gush over Tom in an interview again - loved what he said about Tom before!

Me, too! I'll bet he's impressed with all that Tom has achieved since the last time he was on the show.

It's clear from that comment that The General thinks Clark is a complete and utter loser. If they fully go the way of the comics on this, that opinion he has of Clark isn't going to change all that much sadly, for both Lois and Clark.

I love Michael Iornside in this role, and it makes me sad they didn't bring Lois' dad and sister back long before now. Though doing it now does make for some great drama now that Clark is a more active hero with an alter ego, which he wasn't when the General and Lucy first showed up back in season 4.

I've been waiting for this episode since it was announced. I think this is the ep that will finally really get down to all the story lines starting to come together.

I've been wondering if Smallville would go the way of the comics with how the General feels about Clark. Lois is being very conciliatory in the clip, and I figure the episode could go one of two ways. Either the General will be adamant in his disapproval of Clark, and that will contribute to the more antagonistic relationship we expect Lois to have with her father, or else Clark's actions over the course of the episode will change his mind, and that will bring Lois and her father closer together.

I would have loved to have Michael Ironside back for every season. He's a great actor, and the General's relationship with Lois has so much to do with the woman she becomes. It would have been nice to delve into that a bit more.

I think you're right about the significance of this episode. Much like Hostage, it's about a lot more than just a family reunion.

I love IRONSIDE!

I have my fingers crossed for this one, because I'm really, really wanting to actually like an episode of Smallville this season. I figure I have to get lucky one of these weeks, right? Though I suspect my best shot might come with the episode following this one.

The only thing that would piss me off about the Lucy kiss would be if Lois acts like its something Clark would've done, or wanted. She can go off on her slutty sister all she wants though.

I love IRONSIDE!

Me, too! He's awesome!

I'm hopeful for this episode. It seems to promise us a mix of family dynamics and the anti-vigilante movement, and it looks like Clark will be in the middle of both. Plus we might get to see the last of the Talon! :)

MTE. A manufactured misunderstanding would be beyond dumb, and wildly OOC for Lois at this point.

Thanks for the clips! After the recent disappointments, I hope, against hope, that this episode brings some joy to loyal Clark fans as myself.

I hope so, too, Carol. I'm sorry the show has consistently let you down this season. :(

This dude's still nicer than the comic book version though.

WAY nicer. I don't like General Lane in the comic books I've read at all. My heart breaks for Lois when it comes to her father.
