SHoE's SDCC episode is now up!
SHoE's podcast about their team's experiences at San Diego Comic-Con this year, with special guest Damian Holbrook from TV Guide, is now up! It's a marathon session, over 2-1/2 hours long, but well worth the listen. One interesting quote from Damian, when the subject of Cat Grant came up:

"The way Tom Welling has described it, he was saying, you know, no one can ever replace Allison Mack, but that's kind of what the relationship will develop into, is she'll kind of be like his sounding board and like, secret, you know..."

He was interrupted at that point, so I'm not sure what the next word was going to be. Secret keeper? Do we even know how many episodes Keri Lynn Pratt will be in? IMDb lists two so far. I'm looking forward to seeing her performance. People from the show have been raving about her, and I've liked her in the few things I've seen her in before (Veronica Mars, House, Bones). Enough so that I remembered who she was, anyway.

Download the podcast from the SHoE web site HERE or iTunes HERE (look for episode 152).

Well, that's promising, right?

I think the storyline definitely has potential, and I'm looking forward to seeing a new character interact with Clark. Maybe she can have a romance with Jeff the Intern. ;)

Well, I'm all for Clark interacting with new people that can bring new elements into his storyline. So, hopefully, they will use this Cat character wisely. But, I'm really annoyed they didn't bring back the Catherine from Crossfire, because she and Tom sparkled together, and so I wouldn't have to worry about there being a likeable chemistry there.

I have no idea why they didn't bring the original actress back. The only quote I remember is Kelly (I think) saying something about them deciding to "go a different way." But Brian and Kelly both said the first dailies featuring her blew them away, and Al spoke of her in glowing terms as well. I hope that means she has great chemistry with Tom, but I guess we'll find out in a month.

So...they're worried that Allison's departure will leave the 'shippers nothing to wank about? BRING IN A NEW GIRL!

Like Val, I'd have stuck with original Cat. But I'll give the new gal a chance.

LOL! I just hope she's going to be like the old Chloe, because I don't want to see anyone treat Clark the way Chloe has for the past year. Erica talked about Cat being a professional rival for Lois, not a romantic one. I certainly hope TPTB aren't leaning toward a triangle.

I wonder if she'll also be assigned Chloe's expositional duties. One of the things that makes this actress memorable to me is her voice, which is very cute, with just a touch of Betty Boop. I like it, but I can't imagine her delivering those staccato Chloe speeches that always brought us up to date.

Thanks for the Tom info on Cat Grant. I'm looking forward to the character and seeing SV's take. KS did say she was different from the comics, but would develop closer to the mythos. I'm glad that Clark and her build a friendship and I'm curious about the secret comment.

I wish Damian had been able to finish his thought! :) I'm really interested to see Clark interact with someone new, especially someone who doesn't have a history with him. How will he be perceived by someone who sees only Clark Kent, the reporter, and how will their relationship, whatever it turns out to be, develop? I'm definitely intrigued!

I liked the original Cat a lot too but I'm willing to give a chance to the new one. I have a crazy theory. Maybe they changed the actress so the new one will be credible in NOT being a romantic rival to Lois. The first one had a sizzling chemistry with Tom. But I've seen that new actress in Bones, and even though her character had all the potential to come between Booth and Brennan(the main ship), she didn't.
Maybe I'll have the courage one day to listen to the whole podcast...
